Biography of Bernard Schneider and Marjorie Schneider:
The Apogee Foundation and a New Paradigm for the Modern Family

Blessed with the utmost benevolent human qualities and sound judgment, Dr. Bernard Schneider and Mrs. Marjorie Schneider together with their children, physician Susan Schneider and attorney Kenneth Schneider, have revolutionized the meaning of the term ‘family.’

Through their vision of reaching out to those less fortunate and making them as fortunate as one family of mankind can be at its best, they have brought about positive changes in the lives of multitudes.

When we refer to the ‘modern family,’ does a simple unit of parents and children perpetuating themselves come to mind? I am currently writing a series of articles about a different type of family: a family that has taken a lot of pain and made real sacrifices to build a different idea of family that can make the world a better place for all of us.

Throughout careers devoted to the selfless service of mankind, the progenitors of this family, Dr. Bernard Schneider and Marjorie Schneider, and those who carry on their traditions, Dr. Susan Schneider and Kenneth Schneider Esq., have forged a new form of global family that nurtures in its members human values that transcend all boundaries.

While Bernard Schneider MD and Susan Schneider MD are both leaders in the field of health care, Marjorie Schneider is an nationally recognized arts and education expert, and Kenneth Schneider is a leading international financial lawyer, this is a family that does not rest on its laurels. Rather, they seem every day to rededicate the fruits of their extraordinary abilities to raising future generations to their own level and to new levels never before attained.

In creating an institution to further these aims with people of good will from around the world all working together to achieve their highest potential, what else might they name it other than ‘The Apogee Foundation’? The term ‘apogee’ means ‘the highest point, the culmination,’ and this is what the Schneiders have worked tirelessly all their lives to empower others to achieve – and, in so doing, fulfilled in themselves, as well.

The question now is only: will we heed the call and answer the challenge? Can we – will we – make of our own lives something worthy of being described as an apogee of human excellence? The Schneiders have dedicated their lives to providing a model – an opportunity – for us all. It is now up to us to embrace and celebrate our own highest potential as one magnificent family of mankind, in response.

Richard Morrison is a journalist and a professional writer presently researching and writing about leaders in arts and culture around the world, of which his present series of articles on the Schneider family and The Apogee Foundation form a part.
